The Federal Emergency Management Agency (“FEMA”) has announced final allocations and awards for the FY2020 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (“NSGP”). This reflects the implementation of Congress’s landmark FY2020 appropriations bill, which allocated a record $90 million for the program – $50 million directed to “at risk” urban areas and $40 million to other locations.
This program will focus on enhancing the ability of state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, as well as nonprofits, to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from terrorist attacks. It will also enhance information sharing and collaboration in order to build a national culture of preparedness against terrorism and other emerging security threats, including funding physical security enhancements and other related activities for nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of a terrorist attack. A major aim of the NSGP is integration of the preparedness activities of nonprofit organizations with broader state and local preparedness efforts
Each nonprofit organization with a DUNS number may apply for up to $100,000 through their respective State Administrative Agency (SAA).
Details of the program which include Funding Priorities and Example Project Types, instructions on how to obtain a DUNS Number, grant period, other eligibility information and other relevant information can be found here.
