James has been a partner at Mazars since 1989 and has directed his efforts primarily in the firm’s assurance services area. He has served on the firm’s Executive Committee and has previously led the Mazars’ Financial Services market segment. Additionally, he chairs the Partner Path Committee – a staff development initiative.
James focuses primarily on auditing financial statements and providing financial, tax, and regulatory consulting for a variety of financial services providers. Mazars’ extensive list of clients includes brokers and dealers in securities, investment partnerships and hedge funds, (both domestic and offshore), mutual funds, Small Business Investment Companies, commodity pool operators, and investment advisers.
His services include consulting with clients on tax, accounting, and other related matters within the financial services niche. He routinely interfaces with investment advisers, fund administrators, and financial directors, providing advice on financial reporting and controls, regulatory compliance, tax strategies, and systems and back office support.
James’ specialization in other industries includes publishing, professional firms (law & engineering), and manufacturing companies.
He received his BS in Accounting and his MS in Accounting from the State University of New York at Albany. James is currently affiliated with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Securities Industry Association – Financial Management Division and the National Association of Small Business Investment Companies. He is also a member of the Long Island Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, the Business Information Networks of Long Island, Inc., and he is the Treasurer for the Fair Media Council.
