John has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry – both in the United States and internationally. He is a leader in providing outsourced internal audit services to financial institutions on a range of matters. John’s background includes performing internal audit risk assessments, establishing outsourced internal audit functions, developing and implementing SOX solutions, managing BSA/AML projects, and establishing quality control programs. John also assists with the resolution of regulatory orders.

Prior to joining Mazars, John was Managing Partner at ICS Consulting Partners, a respected New York area firm at the forefront of internal audit, regulatory compliance, and credit risk management issues. Before ICS, he served for four years as SVP/Risk Manager for a $5 billion publicly traded banking institution, including supervising the internal compliance monitoring function for the bank. John was also employed at one of the Big Four for more than 15 years, where he progressed from a management role in the external audit practice to Director in the office of the General Counsel in New York.

John received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and his Master of Science in Theory of Auditing, Accounting, and Taxation, from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and practiced as a Chartered Accountant there. John gained his CPA in New York State, and practiced as such during his tenure with the Big 4. John is currently a member of the AICPA and is a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

Charles received his BA at Queens College, City University of New York. He is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association in their Compliance and Legal Division, as well as the Financial Management Division. Charles is a current member of the NYSSCPA Stock Brokerage Committee and has served as Chair of that group two times, most recently from 1999 to 2001. He has written several articles that were published in the Westchester Business Journal as well as Mazars Financial Trends Review publication. Charles speaks regularly and chairs the Foundation of Accounting Education’s Annual Technical Conferences on Audit Issues of Broker/Dealers and the FAE’s Annual Conference on the Securities Industry.
